STATUE OF MAN 0 WAR An added attraction at Belmont Park this season is a statue of Man o War generally hailed as Americas greatest thoroughbred It is the work of Herbert Hazeltine worldfamous sculptor The Belmont Park statue which is of heroic size is the completed plaster model of the bronze monu ¬ ment erected over the grave of Big Red at Faraway Farm near Lexington Ky Hazeltine was commissioned in December 1940 by the late Mrs Samuel D Riddle to make the statue He worked on and off on the model until July 1947 Hazel tines works are in private collections and museums all over the world
