VERANO gradually improved position after the opening quarter, was forced wide by GOLDEN COUNT during the stretch run, but disposed of the latter in the last sixteenth and Won going away. GOLDEN COUNT assumed command at once, made the pace to the last eighth, then drifted out while tiring and could not hold the top one. WINSTAY was hustled to reach serious conention after begininng sluggishly, raced well for three-eighths* then faltered. R0CKW00D LOU could not get to the leaders when hard urged through the stretch. CORN SPICE tired after engaging GOLDEN COUNT to the final furlong. BUMTYBUMP was never a serious factor. RHOJOTTO began fast, but dropped back immediately after the start. DESERT RAID showed nothing. SLIPPER SATIN moved up boldly entering the stretch, responded to punishment during the drive and, after taking command, held BYRONIC safe. ■» The latter, never far back and saving ground, closed willingly under puhshment, but could not overtake the winner. TRY IKE began fast, made the pace until inside the stretch, then faltered. CHIEF JOHN 0. lacked early speed. FLORIDA FARMER was never dangerous and raced wide. BIG . GIRL engaged TRY IKE for a half mile, • then weakened. LUCKY DOG had early speed, but drifted out badly during the last three-eighths mile. Scratched— 29853 Commitment, 109. FANCY DREAM assumed command at once, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch, but was vigorously ridden thereafter to hold the advantage. PENNWOVEN raced nearest the winner throughout, closed willingly, but could not threaten the latter. BLENDED MUSIC raced evenly to the stretch and finished determinedly under punishment. PIXIE PAT tired after showing early speed. WAVE-A-LU had no mishap. DISTINCTIVE bore in badly during the last three-eighths and lost all chance. PRINCE ORLEANS was never prominent. LANDMARK GAL, never far back, finished well under punishment, but could not get to. the top one. VERADAR moved up boldly at the stretch turn and remained on the inside for the drive, but faltered nearing the finish. FAYETTE STAR raced wide.
