part of the race closed strongly and showed a high class race He was much the best at the end Operator was rank and with a dazzling turn of speed opened a big gap at the first threeeighths post where Garry Hermann closed so fast on him that they were on even terms before the half had been reached He rallied again in the last quarter but the early run had taken everything out of him and he just had enough to nose out Omdurman at tho wire The latter ran a fine race and closed fast on the inside rail Robert Waddell also closed strongly and showed improvement over his last two attempts Garry Hermann bled after turning into the stretch and was pulled up Winkfield made too much use of him down the backstretch in closing on Operator and this may have hastened his blood rupture Edith Q was given third place but the judges erred and evidently mistook Omdurmau on the inside rail lapped on Robert Waddell and Operator for her herScratched Scratched 254913Fancy Wood 102 102Silverdale
