HAWTHORNES TURN Today will mark the close of racing at Har ¬ lem for the space of two weeks the scene of equine conflict shifting to Hawthorne where all is in readiness for action Secretary Clarks program book for the first week la out and besides the usual array of fat purses calls for the decision of three stakes The first the Test Stakes a dash of five and a half furlongs for twoyearolds with 1000 added will be run off Monday afternoon It has fortytwo nominations and should be contested by a good field The sec ¬ ond jumping stake of the local season The Emerald will be contested Thursday It is over the short course and baa 800 added The star event Saturday will be the Excelsior Stakes a dash of a mile and an eighth for threeyearolds under handicap conditions It has 2000 added and with ita seventy nominations will prove a plum well worth picking With the good weather prevalent at this season of the year the coming Hawthorne meeting should be highly prosperous and replete with stirring racing I
