RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION. The horsemen of England have started an organization known as the Racehorse Owners Association, Limited. The object of the association Is to protect the interest of the horsemen generally. It Includes among Its council Lord Carnarvon, Lord Mar- , cus Beresford, Lord Westbury, Sir H. K. Randall and others equally as well known. It is not the idea of the association to usurp any of the functions of the Jockey Club, but rather to work in harmony with this body for the good of the.turf. The association has almost one hundred members now, and the list is growing daily. One of the evils that will early claim the attention of the association is the matter of horse transportation. This is a subject of much concern in England, where the horses are all trained on private grounds and shipped to racing- points when wanted. The item of expense is a considerable one, but so far the railway companies have shown no disposition to favor the horsemen in any way. In union there is strength, and acting on this old maxim the association hopes to accomplish some needed reforms In the shipping of horses.
