Ray Egan made up ground steadily from a slow beginning and, finishing fast and gamely, caught Tom Gilroy" in the final sixteenth and got his nose in front in the last stride. Tom Gilroy showed a tine turn of speed and hung 011 tenaciously in a punishing finh-h. Capt. Jarret ran in much improved form, but was tiring at the end. Silver Sue ran Into the lead on the stretch turn and appeared the winner, but succumbed readily when challenged by Lacene. Hester W. showed the most early speed, but tired badly in the stretch run. Fireball, away flying, quickly opened a decisive lead and set the pace fast, but was under punishment and doing his best at the end. Incantation got off so badly as to be almost left, closed a big gap into a slight lead, then tired from the effort to get up and lost an unlucky race. The latter ran well to the stretch and tited in the final furlong. While at the post Cutter overpowered her rider and ran away nearly three miles before being caught and was left at the ost. Red Light quickly ran Into the lead and, showing unsuspected speed, always held the race safe and won cantering. Hot regained his best form suddenly under a good ride and easily disposed of Lucian for second place. The latter ran well and finished gamely. The Borgian ran a good three-quarters, but tired in the stretch run. Arrah Gowan ran a bad race and can do much better.
