Rose Hart, away well and showing surprising improvement, forced a fast pace all the way, stood a hard drive gamely in the last furlong and outlasted Firalto. The latter ran like a good .one and was gaining steadily at the end. Duchess of Montebello also showed much improvement and ran a game r,aee. Jardiniere showed smart sneed. but tired under punishment. Little Wanda was in the worst going from the start and tired near the end.- Miss Custls was away in a tangle. Salvlsa was badly ridden. Colonel White moved up steadily from a slow beginning, stood a hard drive with rare gameness and wore down Paul Clifford In the final sixteenth. Paul Clifford showed good speed but, under a weak ride, swerved Into the worst going, which cost him the race. Uncle Henry showed improved form and ran a fine race. Glen Gallant, under vigorous handling, finished gamely. Loricate ran a dull race. Lady Free Knight closed a big gap after suffering from early interference. Captain Bob moved into second place at the end of a mile and was never seriously menaced for that position thereafter. Louis Kraft, noorly handled, ran a good race and had no serious opposition for third place. Murmur was beaten off, hut ontgamed Erne through the final quarter. Whippoorwill, badly ridden, had little trouble in disposing of Novena in the stretch and was an easy going second. Rainland blundered and stumbled repeatedly, but ontgamed Novena through the last quarter. Tlie latter showed fair speed, but was weakly handled and tired in the final drive. Macbeth, away poorly and badly ridden, ran well, was best and, under more skillful handling, might have won. Dapple Gold showed unexpected improvement and finished going fast. Firing Line showed good speed for three-quarters before tiring. Mr. Jack was practically left and closed a big gap. Ruth W. ran a poor race. Scratched 597B7.
