Willie Gregg moved up fast on the backstretch and, taking the lead on the far turn, gamely maintained it to the end. Sheriff Bell finished fast and easily held Piquet safe for second place. Piquet showed improvement ami ran well to the stretch, but tired in the final furlong. Montezuma went fairly well. Tattenhatn showed early speedy The others ran poorly. Sweet Kitty, probably a good filly, ran in close company with Early Flower to the last furlong, where she drew out and won cantering. Early Flower was a fast and game contender throughout, but was no match for the winner. Horace E. ran fairly well throughout and finished gamely under the whip. Tom Gllroy did his best. My Surprise was a prominent contender throughout, but was tiring at the end from strenuous pursuit of the winner. St. Wiuifride finished fast. Rubl-ana ran injorly and can do better. Mastcrson was reserved to the stretch, where he moved up fast and. finishing with a rush, easily outstayed Big Ben. The latter ran a fast seven furlongs, but his saddle girth broke In the final eighth and lie then fell back quickly. Cotillion ran in greatly improved form aud held on in resolute fashion at the end. Miss Betty ran well to the stretch, but tired iu the final furlong. Sun Mark closed a big gap in the last half and finished with a rush. Seasick ran a good halfK but tired in the stretch drive. Magonla and Miss Affable showed early speed, but failed to stay.
