OAKLAND STEWARDS DEPART THEIR RULE. Bonar Finishes Second and is Set Back Last All of the Favorites are Beaten. San Francisco. Cal.. January 31. The public at the Oakland racetrack was treated to a rude awakening this afternoon by the disqualification of Ronar in the fourth race, the stewards departing from their hitherto hard and fast rule of not disturbing the placed horses after the finish. Similar and much greater offenses have passed unnoticed since the opening of the present meeting. The downfall of six favorites worked havoc with plungers and punters alike, much dissatisfaction lielng shown over the sudden improvement of the formidable procession of outsiders Royalty, Gateway, Xine Spot and Sir Edward. Each of these animals reversed his or her recent running. Rumor has it that Gateway may be the subject of judicial inquiry. Frank Fllttner and Theo Case were claimed out of the third race for 25 each by J. liloom and S. Judge respectively. The Lady Rohesla was also claimed out of the fifth race by C. A. Cleal for 27,. Kalbert, Graceful, Bantam, Hersain, Yellowstone, Fisher Boy and Smithy Kane were shipped today to Ascot Park. J. W. Blalock has sold Bonnie Reg to 0. F. Hume and E. .1. Ramsey has said Standard to James Mounce. It. D. Williams today secured a three years contract on E. Lynch, an eighty-five-pound ly.
