Romaine got quickly into close pursuit of the pacemakers and, after a wide stretch turn, loomed up tnenaeinglv, but could never quite get up and ran the best race of his career. Gorgalete, badly messed about in the earlv running and unable to keep his position for five furlongs, finished with a belated closing sprint. St. George Jr. ran in improving form.
