NOTES OF THE TURF. Af Ascot Park yesterday jockey Kent was suspended for ten days by starter Holtman. Tat Meaney is wintering a big .stable of horses at Saratoga. Thus far they havent ln-cn from under the sheds. William Shannon has a big force of men at work at Essex Park getting the track in shape for the spring meeting. A typographical error in the list of racing dates published yesterday made the closing date at Saw-toga August 21. It should have read August 31. William Ilendrie, one of Canadas veteran racing men, has taken his son, William Ilendrie, Jr., into partnership in the stable to be campaigned: this year. Mrs. C. E. Rowe now has a half Interest In Colonial Girl, First Mason, La Sorclfcre and other horses in the stable which her husband Is "training at Memphis. The first winner sent to the post by David Henry since he severed his- connection with M. D. Miller at Latonia last summer was Zlck Abrams at Crescent Park yesterday. Thomas Dolan has located Jean Bereand at W. S. Barnes Melbourne Stud for the season of 1900. John B. Ewing also has Bel Demonio, Sidney Lucas and Streamer at this farm. The two-year-old chestnut colt half brother to Whorlbr, by Mirthful Whyota, has been named Farceur. This youngster is owned by F. R. Hitchcock- and is now in training at John E. Maddens Hamburg Place, near Lexington, Ky.
