Haughty "us outpaced in the first part of tin? race, but moved up fast in the stretch and got up for second plue in the final strides. J.. P; Mayberry had no mishaps :iml ran a good race. Bitter Hand showed speed, but quit badly near the end. Virginia Beach, badly ridden and almost left, was made much use of in racing up into contention and tired badly in the stretch. Game Bjrd followed the earlv race well for the first quarter, but tired thereafter, is a useful eolt, but cannot heat the winner Dr J. F. Aitkcn ran a fairly good race, standing a long, hard drive gamely. Miss Cesarion made a promising debut. Cutter ran as if much the best, won all the way with plenty in reserve ami is in superb form. Bullfinch was a fast going second for the entire trip, although tiring slightly nt the end. King Ellsworth seemingly sulked for the first half and trailed the others far back, but moved up steadily in the last half under strong urging and tinlslied fast. Harmakis ran a fairly good race only. Kittle Piatt ran poorly and can do better. Hilee tired badly in the last half. Overweights Kittle Piatt, 4 pounds. 7" "v - FOURTH RACE 1 Mile. The latter, poorly ridden and losing much ground bv going wide, ran a good race, only tiring in the last sixteenth. Buxom, favored by a light impost, was a strong contender for the major part of the journey and finished going well. Ora A. was favored by good racing luck and ran a good race. The latter ran a good race and was gaining at the end. Wilcox had no mishaps and fully ran his race. Firalto. away in a tangle and badly ridden closed a tremendous gap and was probably best. Jardiniere acted badly at the post and wore himself out by his crazy antics,, showed a brief flash of early speed, but tired badly. Reina Regente ran a poor race. Dolinda broke slowly, but ran into the lead at once and tired after going three-quarters and appeared hopelessly beaten, then came again under vigorous handling and superior riding brought a hard earned victory. Henry .0. ran in improved form and was best, but suffered defeat through incompetent handling. Dave Sommers was poorly ridden and had scant chance, but was best of those back of him. Dr. Hart ran a dull race. Athena can do better.
