Winifred A. was kept within striking distance of the leaders all through the race, came very fast in the last sixteenth and won going away. Water Lake finished fast and got second place in the final stride. Profane showed surprising early speed, but was tiring at the end from setting the pace. There was a great deal of crowding at the start, which Susannah was lucky In avoiding, got away well and went to the front at once and won all the way without being closely approached. Bitter Miss was always in close pursuit and had no trouble in securing second place. Helen Lucas was pinched off at the start and had to go around on the outside, but finished witli a rush. Dorothy M. had no mishaps. Black Enamel was pinched off at the start and was eased up in the stretch. King Leopold ran below his true form. Lancastrian got off poorly and ran an excellent race, had to go all around on the outside and made a wide turn for home, but finished witli a rush and won with plenty left. Fenian also went well, wore Gallant down in the stretch run and outstayed him for second place. Gallant showed the most early speed, but tired at the end. Sir Francis II. closed a big gap and, finishing fast, forged to the front in the final furlong, but pulled up lame. Peter Nathaniel ran a surprising race and, after being knocked back, caught a lot of tiring horses in the stretch and finished gamely. Bernice closed up much ground from a poor send-off and finished with a rush. Ogontz also came fast in the stretch. Jade had no mishaps and tired badly after looming up at the head of the stretch. Lois had a rough journey. Quaint ran a good half and quit badly. Voltaic ran well to tlie stretch. Overweights Lady Ethel, 4 pounds. f p p SIXTH RACE 1 Mile and 20 Yards. Klavigny closed a big gap and showed plenty of speed, but tired at the end. Sonoma Belle was cut off shortly after the start, but saved ground when turning for home and, after appearing dangerous in the stretch, tired at tlie end. Shenandoah showed early speed, but failed to stay and bore out all the way. Sincerity Belle finished fast. Tlie majority of the horses swung wide Into the homestretch and wcro spread across the track at the finish. Overweights Bcechwood, 5 pounds.
