ED JASPER IS IN ISOLATION HOSPITAL. Secretary Edward Jasper of the Los Angeles Jockey Club Is detained by order of the health department of the City of Chicago--at the local isolation hospital. He is believed to have contracted smallpox. Secretary Jasper, accompanied by his wife, arrived in this city early yesterday morning, enroute from Los Angeles, where he concluded his duties at Ascot Park on Saturday last, to Cincinnati. They came via the Chicago and Northwestern railroad. On the train it was noticed by some one that Jasper had broken out with a rash resembling smallpox. A message was sent to Chicago and at the depot Jasper was met by health officials and together with Mrs. Jasper and conductor W. H. Bentley of the train .on which they had traveled, was taken to the hospital. They were on the way to Cincinnati to attend the funeral of Mrs. Jaspers father. Their baggage had been checked through to the Queen City and the Cincinnati health department was notified to intercept and fumigate it.
