Sylvia Talbot secured a flying start and made the most of her advantage, obtaining a long lead in the early running, but finished tiring and was probably lucky to win. Cardinal Sarto from the start maintained a lucky and forward position on the outside best going, getting up in the last stride for second place. Full Sway, away jioorly on the inside, closed an early gap in deep going and but for stumbling repeatedly in the stretch would have been second. Slimon was a prominent contender to the final sixteenth, where she tired. Vigoroso closed a considerable gap. Sletlakatla may have been short and displayed good early speed. Slagrane, also saved in the rear to the stretch, came through with a belated rush on the inside in the last furlong. Dorado dispiaved superior speed and also held on unexpectedly well in the closing drive. Anvil lacked his usual early speed and quit utterly at the end of six furlongs.
