TARTAN THE MEDIUM OF A COUP. There was a hot tip here, as well as throughout the west and south, on Tartan, winner of the sixth race at Sheepshead Bay yesterday. Many local handbook men are said to have been hard hit. A telegram from Memphis says that in poolrooms at that point the horse was backed to 4 to 1. St. Louis also reports much money wagered in the handbooks. Somebody appears to have "cleaned up." The horse ran in the name of Mrs. II. B. Brolaski.
