Toddles, from a lucky start, was always in forward contention and drew out in the stretcli and won cantering. Dulcinea received a flying start and made the running for a half mile and earned an easy second place after readily succumbing to the winner. Miss Strome came from far back, closing up like a whirlwind in the stretch. Fay also came unexpectedly from the rear. Gold Lady was going well at the end. -The Belle of Brighton tired badly in the closing drive. Jaunty got away poorly and was pocketed in the last quarter and ran a good race. Sphinx, a good looker, closed a big gap, but waf shut off and pocketed and forced to pull up at the end. Golden West had a very rough journey. Bat indulged Artery with the lead for six furlongs, then leisurely went to the front and won cantering. Mc-Klttredge, away well on the inside, was pulled back on a half dozen occasions without any apparent reason, then came with a belated end rush and was probably best today. King Henry helped to force the pace and stood a game closing drive. Ocean Spray, shuffled to the rear early, closed a big gap In a good effort. Oltourke ran forwardly and gamely throughout. Bluestone, nearly left, closed a big gap. Artery developed superior speed for seven furlongs and may have been short. Sprakers was knocked to the rear at the half. Saylor had a very rough journey. . Okenite was away well, but his rider was caught napping and he was shut off early, but came through into a commanding second in the last quarter. Kentucky Beau, nearly left at the post, raced around 011 the outside and finished fast, but had no chance to get up and dropped into an easy third. Rosemount, away poorly, made up ground at the end. Prince Hamburg, after leisurely following the pacemaker and moving up too late, was never able to get up. Roseben, away flatfooted and in close quarters in the early running, finished well, but was never really dangerous. Bedouin, away very badly, made up considerable ground and is rounding to. Kiamesha was always outpaced and got away poorly. Hooray dropped to the rear after going a good half. Aeronaut ran a bad race. Halifax was practically left. Samson disputed the lead from the start with Von Tromp, was carried out on the first turn and fell back, then pursued the leader closely throughout, got up and passed him right at the end and was then freshly challenged by Maxnar and just got home. Maxnar, outpaced in the early running, closed up rapidly in the last half and, in a belated. end rush, just failed to get up. Von Tromp mistakenly set the pace from the start and. tiring, succumbed in the last few strides and was best. Red Friar maintained forward and game contention throughout and ran the best race of his career. Oliver Cromwell retired at the end of six furlongs. Scratched 03015 Far West, 109; G2S58 Leila, 105. Tartan, luckily placed from the start, gradually overhauled the leader in the last six furlongs, getting up and winning going away after a long stretcli drive. Just So, from a striding start, set the pace and only succumbed in the last fifty yards. Telephone, witli a good start and advantageously placed on the iuside in forward contention, fell back on the last turn and, being badly messed about, could never quite get up again under a bad ride. Jack McKeon, on the outside and nearly left at the post, closed an immense gap and may have been best. Freckman made up a lot of ground from a bad start. Samuel II. Harris ranjn close quarters and was badly ridden. Adbell again failed to stay after showing early speed. Brookdale retired early after beating the gate.
