Prince Hamburg was off Hying and set the pace throughout, coming away In the short stretch with great ease. Bryan was the only serious contender and rau alongside the winner for live furlongs before lip succumbed. Cresslna came along at the end very gamely, getting up for third place with a rush. Listless developed unexpected speed, held on well and is wortli remembering on this track. Geranium, at the weights, showed a brilliant performance, was outpaced in the early stages and finished fast. Caller, skillfully reserved for over a mile, moved up Into tlie lead when beginning the last turn of the Meld and held sway to the end. Jimmy Lane, badly Interfered with on several occasions, made a late move after tlie leader and failed to get up after suffering from much interference, was short and will reverse this running. Patagonian trailed far in the rear for a mile and -a half, then earned an easy third. Oro sulked badly under punishment and, swerving at tlie obstacles, interfered with the contenders. Salt-ine, after trailing far in the rear, closed up well -at the end. Clare Russell, away well on the inside, maintained a good position to tlie stretch, where she made good with an astonishingly fast sprint. Mentha, a slow beginner, was outpaced to the turn, but moved up rapidly at the end, appears to lie a coming good one and Is a grand looker. Clamor was In forward contention throughout and is another coming good one and was on even terms with the winner when beginning the last fifty yards. Altuda, shut off early, came again at the end and showed brilliant speed. Saghalien, away iioorly and trailing in tlie early running, closed up fast lu tlie last half. Soprano, excessively urged from the start to overhaul tlie pacemaker, quit badly in tlie stretch and her nice should be thrown out. Remiss closed an immense gap from a poor send-off and ran a cracking race. Dulcluea. set a terrific pace, but failed to stay. Scratched 034S7 Barlngo, 105; J33G2 Manila, 105. Hamburg Belle ran lapped on the pacemaker throughout, but was reserved a half length behind her for half the journey, after which she gradually headed her and won out at the end of a terrific stretch drive. Whimsical made the running under a hard pull for tlie lirst half and was unequal to coping with Hamburg Belle in the last half-mile sprint. Flip Flap, reserved within striking distance of tlie pacemakers from the start, was left far behind at the beginning of tlie closing sprint, but kept coming and. in a whirlwind end rush, just failed to get up. Estimate, from a Hying start, forced tlie pace throughout, fell back when beginning the last sixteenth and then came again and got up lu the last stride. Clements showed astounding improvement and ran with the winner throughout, but was not quite good enough. Flowaway. In close quarters in tlie early running and securely pocketed on tlie turn, linlshed with a belated rush and his race should be thrown out. Pungent was a forward contender from tlie start and tired just at the end. General Sherman linlshed fast Colonel lack, nearly left, closed an Immense gap and ran a cracking race. Judge Davey likes mud and a longer route, was in close quarters all the way aud going fast iu tlie stretch. El Dorado got away poorly and had no chance. Overweights Pungent, 3 pounds. Won easily; second driving: third the same. Artery decisively outbroke, outpaced and outstayed his opponents, was much the best and never fully extended. Ocean Spray ran lapped on the favorite throughout, outstayed liim at the end and ran an exceptionally game race. King Henry broke slowly, but was quickly whlpied Into forward contention on the lirst turn, where he was patiently reserved until on the last turn, where he shot his bolt, quitting; badly in the closing drive. Bob Edgren kept in a moderately good position all tlie way. ORourke broke slowly and was badly shut off on the lirst turn and knocked out of serious contention. Dave Lewis, nearly left, closed up a lot of ground. Bluestoue could not run fast enough to keep warm.
