DRAKE HORSES WIN FOUR RACES AT SALEM. Lord Boanerges Takes the Handicap Starter Cassidy Goes to the Wrong Salem. Salem. X. II., July 11. John A. Drake all but swept the card at Bockinghaui Park today, winning four out of six races with Itebo, Kuunels. Wcs and Ireland, respectively. Jockey lamer rude all four winners. Runnels was making his lirst appearance since lie pulled up lame in the llftli race at Saratoga August :i, 1903, and trainer Wisliard sent him to the post today lit and ready. The horse displayed a bit of his old time form, winning his race easily and running the seven furlongs in 1:28. Starter Mars Cassidy arrived here today a bit behind the schedule, yet not out of sorts as the result of his experience. He bought a ticket at New York tor Salem, Mass., instead of Salem, N. II.. landing In the town by the sea early this morning. After much time spent in a fruitless search for the racetrack, he learned he was in the wrong Salem and was forced to travel about 40 miles by electric car to reach his proper destination in time to go to work. -Mr. Cassidy did not employ the walk-up system today and all the starts were good ones. President Andrew Miller returned from New York this morning and resumed his place in the stewards stand. Well balanced lields characterized the card "uhe" Longfellow Handicap, of ,000 for two-year-olds, at live and one half furlongs, was won In liand- some style by Lord Boanerges. He took up 125 pounds, got ofT in front, led all the distance and linlshed two lengths in front of J. W. Hcnnlngs Stray, with Solly M, which had been brought from New York especially for this race, third.
