Winner Ch. m, by Applegate Minnie Alphonse trained by W. II. Robinson. Went to post at 2:29. At post 2 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second and third the same. Eva Clair was well ridden and ran to her best form, was reserved In the early running and. saving much ground, stood a hard drive gamely in the stretch and got up In the final stride. Sea Mate, much the best, showed the most early speed and, with good handling, could not have lost, but Russell almost fell off when he tried to ride a strong finish. Prince of Pless, showing suddenly Improved form, ran a good race and but for being interfered with by Sea Mate in the final sixteenth, would have won. Sister rdlllan was a sharp contender all the way and ran a good race. Cambridge had a rougli trip nnd was given a bad ride. Bernie Cramer will run better under stronger handling, but Kinney is too small to do any horse justice and allowed Ills mount to run away after the finish, finally falling off. Nonie Lucille, away well in motion, followed Miss Anxious closely for the first three furlongs, then took the lead and, when tiring, forced Ralbert to go wide into the stretch, but stayed well in the final drive and outgamed Ralbert. The latter, showing improved form, was aided by a running start and a careful ride, but tired in the last furlong. Banposal. away poorly, ran a winning race and finished fast. Mint Boy, also away ioorly, ran a good race and liked the soft track. Martins had no mishaps. Miss Anxious showed line speed for a half, but tired badly thereafter. Scratched 03701AAec Lass, OS. Gus Heidorn was well handled, ran in improved form and outgamed Old Stone. The latter showed early speed, but was taken back on the turns for no apparent reason and should have been much closer up. Snowdrift blundered repeatedly at the obstacles, but showed the most speed between jumps, raced the others, into subjection before reaching the stretch hurdle and was winning easily when Gaddy eased her up almost to a walk and she was nearly beaten oiit by the fast coming Encda. Tiro latter fenced poorly, hut came like a shot after going over the stretch hurdle and, catching Gaddy napping, almost won out. Frank Me followed close up, but tired badly In the final drive. Iiektime quit badly near the end. Mod-redlaw showed improved form, but is very ordinary. Gould was beaten off and ran out at the seventh jump. O IT O d. FIFTH RACE 5 1-2 Furlongs. 1:00 2 10G. Mildrcne. away well and hard ridden, ran forwardly throughout, wore down Marmorean steadily in the final furlong, although swerving, and got up in the final strides. Marmorean broke running and showed the most early speed, but tired badly in the closing strides hut, better handled, might have lasted it out. lair Fagot began slowly and was repeatedly interfered with in the first quarter and was going fast in the stretch, when he was again forced to the inner rail by Mlldrene swerving. Little Elkin, favored by the soft track and running kindly In the final drive, was a lucky third. The- Only Waj- ran a good race, but tired at the end. Cashier, badly ridden, would have been a sharp factor under better handling ami could not have lost third place with the slightest assistance from his rider. Captain Bob was going fait when Aubuchon took him back, seemingly afraid to go through next to the inner rail on the stretch turt. O heron had to overcome a lot of interference in the early stages and moved up fast after going a half, but tired in the final drive. Don I rent came wilh a belated rush after closing a big gap. My Gem also finished fast afler meeting early Interference. Dr. McCluer ran a poor race. Early Hours showed much the most early speed, but was raced Into exhaustion and tired fast after going three-quarters. Self Reliant ran well for three-quarters.
