Scarecrow was shuffled back at the start and ran around on the outside, caught Redwood II. in the stretch and. in a hard drive, got the verdict in the final stride. Redwood II. tired at the end after having raced Sans Coeur and Vestryman into subjection, but held on gamely to the. finish. Vestryman ran an extremely gootl race for him. Mendocino ran a sparkling race from where he got off and will do to remember. Arab seemed to be dull of speed. Rnlloba was off poorly and could never get up. fiOQ7l SECOND RACE 5-8 Mile. 1:005294. The latter ran an excellent race and barely failed to get up. Edwin T. Fryer ran a good race. French Empress raced forwardly, but tired in the last eighth. Wing Ting appeared sore when going to Jhe post and ran a very bad race, which should be thrown out. Tickle set a fast pace and finished gamely, but tired In the final strides. Bonnie Reg made up much ground and finished fast. Gay Boy ran well. Many Thanks showed early speed. Attila ran under restraint to the turn Into the backstretch for the second time and in company with Brand New drew away from the others and, after a long drive, drew out and won going away. Brand New ran well and was on even terms with Attila when a sixteenth out, where he suddenly fell lame. Trenct the Mere, admirably ridden, passed Madehen in the final stride. Miss Lida was crowded at the start and got away tangled up, but closed up very fast when straightened out and might have won. hut stumbled at the last eighth post and almost went to her knees. Fair Calypso followed King Pepper closely to the stretch, where she joined him and, after a sharp drive, won going away. King Pepper set the pace fast and hung on gamely in the final drive. The Don went well and had no effective contention for third place. The field was badly strung out at the start and Dont You Dare, F. E. Shaw. Prestige and Jim Beattie-were in a mix-up. Prestige ran a good race after he got straightened out. Widows Mite went fairly well. Port Royal was never prominent. Scratched C3734Alsouo, 111.
