MAJOR T. J. CARSON WINS LAT0NIA FEATURE. Owner Fizor Is Questioned as to Morales Running Hayes Will Go to Saratoga. Cincinnati, 0., July 31. This was another bad day for the followers of favorites at Latonla. The twenty bookmakers did a profitable business. There was little in the racing to create enthusiasm. It was, on the whole, a poor collection of horses. Major T. J. Carson, aided by a good ride and favored by the most racing luck, scored in the feature race from the well supported Princess Orna. Alcor was probably best at the weights, but suffered from much interference. Judge Macfarlau was dissatisfied with the running of Morales in the third race. He asked owner Fizer why jockey Seder had taken the colt so wide into the stretch. Fizer thought that Nicol, on Lens, had carried his colt wide, but the judges and the spectators had not seen Nicol forcing Morales wide at any stage of the trip. Master Seder will In the future be under close scrutiny from the judges here. John Ireland, one of the noted firm ,of Ireland Brothers, is making an effort to reenter tha ranks of owners, ne is negotiating with P. J. Mlllett for the transfer of Cottontown. He is alsa trying to secure The Minks. Both horses may soon become his property. It is said that Ireland offered ,000 for Cottontown, but Mlllett is holding out for ,000. A condition of the- sale also is that Red Light must be included in the sale for ,000 if the deal is consummated. Mlllett will turn out the others of his string for this year. L. A. Bonsack, owner of Cotillion and Search Me, has dispensed with the services of Arthur Worley as trainer and will iu future do the training himself. J. D. Neet will sell by auction on Friday next, all the youngsters he has in training here, which includes Sandcateher, Sir Vagrant and Western. Jockey T. Taylor was fined 0 by starter Holt-man vhlle at the post fur the third race, for striking Royal Bond over the head. Jockey Preston sustained painful bruises about the leg when he was crowded Into the fence with Alta McDonald in the first race. He blamed Treubel for the mishap and that rider acknowledged having been responsible for the crowding, but stated that it could not be avoided as Webber bore over to the inner rail. Tom Shaw was among todays visitors, having arrived from New Orleans where he burled his wife, who died recently In Buffalo. Shaw left for- Saratoga where he will make a book for Barney Schrelber. , T. P. Hayes is among the latest to announce his Intention of shipping to Saratoga. He will take about nine horses with him Including the two-year-old BInondo, which is engaged in several stakes at the Spa. C. C. McCafferty has traded to Ed Corrlgan Elastic for Hackler, a three-year-old by Handsome La Belle Creole. James Arthur has decided to ship Arc Light to Saratoga with Gus Heldorn. Three "carloads of horses will leave for there tonight. It Is said that Dr. Leggo has gone amiss in one of his front legs and that his owner contemplates turning him out after applying the firing irons, it is said that he will be sent to Saxtons farm in Illinois, where he will serve a few mares owned by C. C. McCaJTerty. Jockey Aubuchon was overcome by the heat while reducing this morning and was excused from riding out his engagements this afternoon.
