Orpliau Lad began slowly, as usual, and worked through a rough journey, picked his way through in the last half and, finishing with a sensational stretch sprint, got up to win In the last Stride: Soninus raced into a long lead and made the running to the stretch, where he had a big advantage, but succumbed to the winner in the final sixteenth. Shackle ran forwnrdly and gamely throughout. Jim Leonard was prominent for five furlongs, but unnble to stay. Rillemari got away badly and, closing a big early gap, tired in the stretch. Magna Stella made up ground continually. Crimson Clover again failed to stay and bolted to the outside on the last turn. Treasure Seeker, nearly left, closed a big gap. Went to post at 3:00. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. Lotus Eater, lit today for his Best effort, got away badly, but closed a big early gap, challenged in the stretch and seemingly had the race won, but a weak ride beat him. Bobble Kean, from a flying start. Injudiciously set the pace and drew out on the far turn and, when joined by Lotus Eater, gamely stood a tremendeus closing drive to save a dead heat. Tyron, away badly, got rapidly into forward contention, steadily Improved his position in the last half and finished a fast going third. Just So closed a big gap in the last half and was a fast going fourth on the extreme outside. Avaunteer showed a glimpse of his old-time speed, hut tired after going seven furlongs. Lady Savoy began slowly and made up a lot of ground. Hanover Hornpipe also gained rapidly in the Inst half. Eugenia Burch ran forwardly to the half, where she tired and probably was short. Robin Hood caught and passed Van Ness on the far turn, coming away quickly and with unexpected sameness in the stretch and showing sudden and big Improvement. Van Ness, at his best gait, forced the early running and tired after going a half mile as if short, but was an easy second and will do better. Water Tank ran forwardly and gamely throughout. Cressina wm closing up steadily in the last quarter in an extra good effort. Celwes ran prominently and finished close up, is worth watching and looks grand. The Belle, also close up, is improving. A. Muskoday, away badly and out of place in sprints, closed a big gap. Bryan was sore and badly outrun for the tirst half and pulling up in the ytretch. Altuda, from a flying start, made most of his advantage and won all the way, whipped away from Fan-tastics challenge on the last turn, finished very gamely and was best. Fantastic broke slowly and was shuffled back, but got up again, closed on the. leader on the turn and momentarily appeared like winning easily, but tired finally. Loring, pocketed on the far turn and in close quarters, came again very gamely at the end when too late. Baringo loomed up midway of Uie stretch and then tired in the last fifty sards. Belle of Iroquois closed a big gap in the last half after having suffered from early Interference. Grace George also made up ground in the last half. Estimate was badly handled. Nemesis was lucky at the start, but was carried wide on the first turn and iioeketed on the backstretch, finished with a belated end sprint, but could not quite get up. Tipping, away poorly, closed a b!g early gap to get into forward contention and was a fast going third. McKittredge began slowly as to have been virtually left, made up twenty lengths, but came lale, as usual. Left closed a big gap from a bad start. Park Row showed early speed, but qnit badly.
