SEAGRAM TO RACE IN ENGLAND. Toronto, Ont., July 31. Joseph E. Seagram, M.P., president of the Ontario Jockey Club, proposes to make a trip to England next year. He will hardly take any horses over, but may buy some there. He also proposes to make entries for the Derby and Oaks of 1909. With reference to a statement recently circulated to the effect that It was the Kings Intention shortly to retire from the turf, a correspondent, who wrote asking if there were any truth In the report, has received the following reply from Lord Knollys, his majestys private secretary: "Buckingham Palace, July 14. "Dear Sir: In reply to your letter of July 12, I am commanded by his majesty to Inform you that there is no truth In the statement to which you refer. I am, sir, your obedient servant, "KNOLLYS." President Seagram has once more engaged the veteran Charles Boyle to look after bis home-bred string. Mr. Boyla held a similar charge when that cracking good colt, Ferdinand, woa the Queens Plate.
