In thelast furlong and the two fought it out closely to the end. Gauze, as usual, began slowly, but finished fast. Miss Hawley was a keen contender for live furlongs only and then quit. Salnzilla came away in the last sixteenth with apparent ease and was much the best. Lady Demon outbroke the others and had several lengths the best of the start, showed superior speed for a half mile and held second place safe, but tired in the stretch run. Miss Cesarlon ran forwardiy, but was never good enough to get to the first two. Beatrice II. ran a fairly good race. Lady Bateman was In a pocket most of the way and could never get through. Gold Enamel ran within striking distance of the pacemakers until in the homestretch, where he closed up rapidly, caught Scotch Plume tiring end outgamed her at the end. Scotch Plume ran a good race and held the others safe, but was much used In, setting the pace and tired at the end. Peter Paul ran forwardiy all through the race, but tired from chasing Scotch Plume and just lasted long enough to save third place trom John Carroll. Edward Wilder broke in front, set a fast pace and easily held all but the winner safe. MInot was a keen contender to the head of the stretch, but tired at the end and just lasted long enough to withstand the rush of Eminola. The latter came fast in the final furlong. Joe Levy began slowlv and rrnde ud a lot of ground, but was never good enough to get to the winner. Rhinock had no mishaps; ran forwardiy and put up a good race for him. Prestige ran In forward contention, but tired In the last eighth. Sharp Boy pulled up very lame. Ravlana showed speed, but failed to stay.
