PROTEST AGAINST DOUBLE LICENSE. Cincinnati, 0., August 6. Secretary Hacljmelsters announcement that licenses from the Western Jockey Club will be necessary for all trainers, jockeys and valets at the coming Douglas Park meeting has occasioned considerable complaint among the horsemen. At the beginning of the turf war a year ago last winter the American Turf Association acknowledged all licenses of horsemen In good standing for that current year. Now that peace Is supposed to have been established, howbelt with two Richmonds in the field, it hardly appears to be reasonable or right that the trainers and jockeys should he compiled to pay tribute to both. Licenses ought to be interchangeable good on the tracks of both factions Is the way the horsemen look at It. To compel them to take out new Western Jockey Club licenses for Douglas Park they would regard as an uncalled for and unnecessary expense. Possibly Mr. Hachmelsters statement may have been In the nature of a "feeler." He can rest assured that his ideas In the license matter, if enforced, will be the most unpopular move of the season.
