Won handily; second and third the- same: Anna May, from a -good start; was always In forward -contention, drawing out in the last furlong to win with something to spare. Princess Nettle came fast from the rear and ran a cracking good race. Crimson Clover, away poorly, closed a big early gap and, joining Issue in the last quarter, appeared like the winner momentarily, but tired right at the end. Miss Onius was closing up well In the stretch. Manila ran prominently to the last turn, where she bore out sharply and then quit. Slippery made up a lot of grouud from a. bad start-and Is a good looker. Alila set the pace- for five furlongs and was badly Interfered with by Manila ion the turn and that beat her. Wes, from a striding start, was reserved in an inside position in the early running and leisurely assumed command on the far turn and won out hard held. Orlj away slowly, closed up ground rapidly, finished with a brilliant stretch sprint and is very good. Water Dog maintained a forward position to the final sixteenth, where he tired. Oarsman, unable to hold his position for the first half, loomed up well in the stretch, but retired quickly. Disobedient, on the inside, shuffled repeatedly to the roar and badly messed about, closed a considerable gap. Prince Frederick made the running for nearly six furlongs before he gave way, may have only been short and Is worth watching. Consuelo was closing up at the end. Prudential Girl showed early speed. Victoria B. was outclassed, but ran gamely. Veronique Is a bad one for such company. . . ... Ncalon broke striding. and showed the way around the first turn, but was taken up on the backstretch and followed Cottontown closely to the last turn, where he suddenly dashed Into the lead, winning out eventually In a hard drive. Cottontown, after running under a choking pull around the first turn, raced suddenly Into the lead and made the running hard held to the last turn, where he suddenly and unexpectedly relinquished his advantage, but came again and just failed to get up. Ironsides was In forward contention for seven furlongs, then tired, but finished a good third and is a much improved horse. Athlete, shut off early, trailed close up and, after momentarily appearing to have a chance on the far turn, dropped back and sulked, running a bad race. Lady Anne held a brief lead on the first turn and was taken back under a pull, then failed to stay. Scratched 04252 Heaslip, 114; 04117 Running Water, 12C. Overweights Cottontown, 2 pounds. Shot Gun is in rare form, broke in the rear and worked through a rough journey into forward contention,, was roughed by Prince Hamburg repeatedly and forced to pull up and finally bumped his way to victory through the closing furlong of the stretch. Oxford, fresh and good, maintained a good position from the start and, challenging gamely in the stretch. Just failed to get up. Prince Hamburg ran lapped on the paeemaker to the stretch, where he drew out and appeared to be winning, but tired at the end after fouling everything within reach. Robin Hood was speedy, but failed to stay. Ed Ball broke slowly and was outpaced early, but closed up well in the stretch. Lady Savoy showed a good turn of speed. Bis Ben ran badly. Don Royal showed early speed, but was outclassed. Scratched 64503 Diamond Flush, 112; 64392Theyrc Off, 95. Won easily; second driving; third easily-Ostrich stole the lead on the first turn through the others going very wide and made the running by a big gap throughout and won easing up. Sailor Boy was carried wide on the first turn, but closed up rapidly and was always in nearest pursuit of the leader, beating the others off for second place. Lotus Eater always held third place safe after going the first quarter nd finished easing up. Colonial Girl ot away poorly and ran far in the rear of the serious contention, but closed up like a flash right at the jnd and nearly caught Lotus Eaters rider napping for third place. King Cole, away well, bolted on the first turn and carried half the others with him, was never able to get into his stride afterwards and palpably sulked under punishment. Yorkshire Lad was never dangerous and can do much better. The Clown and Bivouac were both carried hopelessly wide on the first turn and eliminated as contenders.
