NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey Johnny Hayes had his collarbone broken and his right hip injured when Fairystreet fell iw the first race at Seattle last Thursday. At Seattle last Thursday jockey Frank Graham rode four winners. One day earlier In the meeting jockey T. Sullivan had ridden a like number of winners. It was the second time that William Lakeland trained a winner of the Futurity, he having also trained Domino when he won for James H. Keene In 1S93. The rule enforced at Saratoga as to blinkers is not being followed at the Sheepshead Bay meeting. The rule made it necessary for an owner or trainer who desired to run his horse in blinkers to state this on the entry blank. Grant Hugh Browne, the owner of John M. P., is a business associate of Thomas F. Ryan, of New York traction .fame. He went into racing because lie likes the sport and, being a very wealthy man, he Is sible to indulge in it. lie paid 2,500 for John M. P.. and 2,000 for Desert Chief.
