MAUD GONNES SECOND FOAL IS DEAD. Lexington, Ky., September 22. The weanling colt by Dick Welles, out of Maude Gounc, by The Commoner, died recently at Turney Brothers farm in Bourbon County. Her first foal, now a yearling, by Captain SIgsbee, will be raced next season as a two-year-old by Turney Brothers. Maude Gonne was bred back to Dick Welles last spring. Turney Brothers have only two yearlipgs this season by Captain Sigsbee, sire of Martin Doyle, True Boy and Cottontown, and a horse which, his limited stud opportunities considered, has made a splendid showing as a stallion. Captain Sigsbee Is a son ot Candlemas and Is out of Landlady by Longfellow, she out of Brilllanteen, by War Dance. The latter was an own sister to the famous race mare LArgen-teen and she traces to. Mavis, the grandam of the great racehorse Joe Daniels.
