TORONTOS MEETING CLOSES WITH RAIN. Alma Dufour Wins the Feature Race Books Are Hard Hit by Glimmers Victory. Toronto, Out., September 22. This was the closing day of the Ontario Jockey Clubs Autumn meeting, .and the sport was spoiled by rain. There had been a downpour last night, but under a bright morning sun the track had dried out sufficiently to make the going for the first and second races fairly good, but as the horses were going to the post for the third race a terrific storm broke and the race was run in a blinding rain. This left the track sloppy. This was the only day of the meeting that mud runners Were in demand and the speculators were fairly successful In their picking as two favorites and four well backed second choices won. Where the talent landed heaviest was in the second, won by Glimmer of the Hendrie entry. The books were still paying .off at post time on the following race. Edward Corrigans good mare Alma Dufour, cap-tured the Jockey Club Handicap, at two and a quarter miles. Alma Dufour, well ridden by Nicol, was at home in the going and had no trouble in disposing of Sir Ralph, her only serious contender. The race was worth ,850 to Mr. Corrigan and he rewarded Nicol by presenting him with . Mr. Corrigan Will ship his stable to Louisville tomorrow night, ,Most of the stables that , have raced here go to Hamiltoir while a few will make for Louisville and Latonia. The Hamilton meeting will open Tuesday and will continue eight days, closing October 3.
