BETTER JUMPING RACES ARE EXPECTED. New York, September 20. Steeplechase owners aud trainers who have Inspected the field at Belmont Park are looking forward to the uidetlug with much eagerness, and expect to see some interesting contests at the coming meetiug. The fences are up to the standard iu every way aud considerably stiffer than those at Gravesend, so that horses must jump, them or come to grief. There has been little improvement iu the footing, though the Westchester management hopes eventually to find a variety of grass that will make good turf for the course. The three-year-old jumpers will be very much, in the limelight at Belmont Park and many of them have 1 schooled nvell.
