NOTES OF THE TURF. Stewards of the "Western Jockey Club will meet Thursday. Hal P. Headley, the Kentucky breeder, has returned from a two months trip to Europe. Cottontown Is -from the same female line as Go Between, for Cottontowns grandam. Sister, is a full sister to Go Betweens grandam, Ida K. Two weanlings died at the Thorndale Farm in Kentucky, last week. They were the colt, by Monsieur de LOrme Hoiden, and the filly, by Don de Oro Ocypete. If Jake Holtmau should decide not to go to Ascot Park for the coming winter meeting, there Is a rumor in Los Angeles that Ed Duke will take his place as starter. Ed. A. Tipton, of the Faslg-Tipton Company, is at Lexington making arrangements for tthe sale of thoroughbreds that is to be held there beginning Thanksgiving Day. At the recent Lexington Fair, August Belmont offered as a premium for the best foal of 1006, a season to Rock Sand. It was won by James R. Keenes bay colt, by Ben Brush Rosegarland.
