RESPESS TAKES TWO RACES. JUDITH LOUISE AND HARDING CARRY- HIS COLORS SUCCESSFULLY AT .LOUISVILLE. Meadowbrceze Escapes the Jam at the Start and Wins the Handicap Court Forbids-the-Starting of Debar. v Louisville, Ky., October 1C Todays card at Churchill Downs was as difficult a guessing proposition as speculators have been up against since the opening of the meeting. The fields In most of tlie races were large. Three favorites captured purses. The longest priced winner during the afternoon was Miss Officious which won the third race with 20 to 1 against her. Meadowbreeze, winner in the six furlongs handicap for all ages, was most favored In the race. He was away running and escaped the jam that occurred at the post. Goldmate, the favorite, suffered most by the interference and had his chances practically destroyed by the mlxup. Two from the stable of J. B. Respess won dnrlng the afternoon. He backed both. Judith Louise took the opening race, Avhile narding, in the fifth, had things much his own way and scored a ridiculously easy victory. Harding has returned to the good form he displayed before the injury that caused ills temporary retirement. The officials were served with a court order forbidding the starting of Debar in the fourth race. The order was granted in court tills morning on complaint of Thornton Moore, who is part owner of the horse. Moore alleges that, the horse is not In fit condition to: rnceJTjhere Jias f or some time been a misunderstanding between Moore "and Will -Woodard, Jr., who trains the horse. Presiding Judge Charles F. Price was not in the sfarid today. He went to Hillsboro, O., to be in attendance at the funeral of Captain "Jack" Price. W. H. Flzer will ship John L. Inglis to Aqueduct. Jockey Seder will ride him In -all races. A. Bellow and J. Gass shipped their horses to Latonia tonight. At a sale of horses In the paddock before the races, the following owned by various owners were disposed of; Saronola, to C. E. McClaln, for 0; Ty-burnia, P. W. Naper, 5 r Lanzo, W. Coleman, ; Walter McLean, W. Coleman, 0; Sun Bird, W. Coleman, ; Helm. G. Torsen, 5; Wilkey, E. Shorthen, 5. The horses bought by W. Coleman were shipped to Campbellsvllle, Ky., tonight. They are in charge of J. C. Ferriss, Jr.
