TURF WAR AT LOS ANGELES NOT LIKELY. George Rose Says There Is Room for Two Tracks and Dates Can Be Divided. Xew York, October 16. The publication of the prospectus of the new racetrack to be established on "Lucky" Baldwins ranch, near -, Los Angeles. Cal., failed to disturb the serenity of bookmaker George Roses mind. ROse is one of the principal owners of the Ascot Park track and, as such, is more deeply interested in the new racing venture than-any one in the east. "The proposed racetrack is a-,lpng -ways off," he said today. "It cannot be completed before, next fall at least When it is ready, I will welcome it because I think-two tracks will serve -to attract more horses to that part of California than one. Im willing-to meet the new officials and arrange for an equitable share of racing dates.- There will he no racetrack warfare such as New Orleans experienced last year. There is room enough for two tracks." Hope to Be Ready for Racing Next Spring. Los Angeles, Cal.. October 16.- I the plans as outlined by the Baldwin Racing Association do not. fail, Los Angelans will have practically continuous racing after Thanksgiving Day, as it is proposed to rush the work of building the track at Arcadia with a view to holding the first meeting next spring, beginning a few days after the meeting- at Ascot Park. Architect A. F. Rosenheim is drawing the plans for the grandstand, clubhouse and paddock, Surveyors have been on the ground for a week-and work will be started upon the track as soon as the surveyors- finish their task of laying it out. The build ings will be started as soon as possible, -which gen eral manager Creveling says-will be within thirty days. Secretary Albright gives - the information that three-fourths of the stock of the association was-subscribed before .the papers of incorporation were drawn and that only a smallr.pprtion of-ijle remain-; ing one-fourth of the stock issue will be plated on sale, as the association lias ample funds for carrying out its plans. President Thomas H. Williams, of the New California Jockey Club, and J. D. preckels are not stockholders In theVassoclatlon, m gave their promise to "Lucky" Baldwin several months ago that they would become associated with him in the enterprise when it was organized and it is expected that they will take the stock allotted to them and become members of the advisory board. Organization of the association was couducted without trumpets and was Incorporated as the Angelas Realty and Improvement Company, of which E. S. Albright is secretary, and when the Baldwin Racing Association was ready to ask for Incorporation, the attorney for the association , prepared the necessary papers in asking for the change in name to the Baldwin Racing Association. .The plans were not made public until the organization was complete and the stock sold. Thus the association starts out in reality and not In prospect. Application will be made by the association for recognition by the Pacific Jockey Club. This action will be taken immediately," as the status of the association with the governing body must be decided before active preparations arc put In force for holding the meeting and inviting horsemen to participate. The stake book will be prepared and issued before the first of the year, and It is believed by tha management that the horsemen who race at Ascot Park next season will liberally patronize the. meeting.
