ENTRY IS DISQUALIFIED. JACOBITE PERPETRATES A FOUL AND HALIFAX SUFFERS .THE PENALTY WITH HIM. No Third Money Is Paid in the Richmond Handicap Oxford Wins the Race Through Millers Superior Horsemanship. Now York, October 31. Four horses ran for the Richmond Handicap, the feature of the card at Jamaica, today, hut only two got money. The starters were Oxford, Roseben, Jacobite and Halifax. The lust named two were running-as an entry, from the stable of E. R. Thomas and were, coupled in the betting. Jacobite fouled Roseben when uoaring the finish, in which he was nosed out by Oxford and under the rule the entry was disqualified. Jockey Millers, marvelous skill was called into play towin with Oxford, the third best horse at the weights in the race. Roseben carried 14S pounds and set the pace to the stretch where he showed signs of weakening. The others were always" in close pursuit and when straightened for home Jacobite raced alongside and seemed n .sure winner. Roth he and Roseben were boring over to the inner rail. Shaw, on the inside, suddenly, pulled up with Roseben allowing Jacobite to cross over am1 take the lead a sixteenth from the finish, llov-ner, on Jacobite, taking matters easy, was caught napping and nipped right, at the finish by Oxford. Shaw immediately after dismounting began to cliinh the steps of the stewards stand to claim foul. The stewards waived him back and without parley or investigation of any kind, proceeded to change the order of the result They placed Oxford, first, Roseben second and nniifax third. After a while, however, Halifaxs number was taken down and the confirmatory jdacing reduced to, tjvo, Oxford and Itosolien. There was no third hoiye. Miller fell short by one of his usual compliments of two winning mounts. His solitary victory on Oxford was one of the most iKilllant of his wonderful career. . It is alleged that Al Koenigsberg, the. betting agent and backer of Curl Brothers stable and also reputed owner of Johnstown, -which was badly defeated. yesterday, did not bet on his horse, but did wager heavily on Maey. Jr. in the race that Bragg, with Miller up and second choice in the betting, performed so poorly.
