NOTED ENGLISH SIRE DEAD. Amplilon, sire of Lally, favorite for the last Epsom Derby, is dead. During his career Amphion was very successful and won many races, including the Jubilee and Rous Memorial Stakes. In the stud he was noted as a sire of sprinters, and, although Lally was favorite for the Derby many shrewd judges would have none of him, because of the disinclination of the get of Amphion to go a long route. He was the sire of Sunrldge, the champion sprinter of his day. Isidor, a good sprinter in tills country and now In the stud at Hurricana, is a son of Amphion. Lambent, a good winner of a few seasons back, was also auother representative to race in-this country.
