Mintia, Suddenly improved, set the pace throughout, but bore out all through the stretch, seriously interfering with Varietes. The latters jockey lodged a claim of foul, but it was not allowed. Varietes was always favored in the running, was best and would have won with clear sailing. Bon Mot was speedy, ran a creditable race and finished fast and gamely. Prince Frederick lacked his usual speed and lost ground steadily in the stretch. Pioneer finished well. Society Bud can do better. THIRD RACE 3-4 Mile. 1:12$ 3 110. Stray went to the front at once, set a pace that had the others driving in the first half, easily held them safe through the stretch and was unnecessarily ridden out. Zambesi was energetically ridden, always in closest pursuit and finished gamely. Main Chance went well, but just lasted long enough lo beat Frank Gill for third money. Went to post at 3:23. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won ridden out; second driving; third the same. A. Muskoday was favored by the going, raced Tipping into retirement in the first mile, but had to be hard ridden through the stretch to stall off the challenges of Palette and Sir Ralph. Palette rau forwardly all the way, finished fast and showed big improvement over her last previous race. Sir Ralph finished with a rush and barely failed to land in second place. Johnstown began slowly, but clojed a big gap and finished close up. This one will do much better with a hustling rider on his back. Master of Craft was never a prominent contender. Lindale showed speed for seven furlongs. Banker was always outrun. Tipping showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Scratched 65399 Bizzy Izzy, 99. , . Handzarra ran in greatly improved form, dashed into the lead at once and, drawing away as the race progressed, won. off cantering. Ginette ran an excellent race under her heavy Impost, was reserved in the early running and, coming fast in the stretch, easily disposed of Dreamer. The latter was close up to the leader for a half, but tired badly and was evidently handicapped by the going. Royal Ben showed speed and held on gamely. Belcast ran a bad race and is inconsistent.
