Ila was outpaced early, but moved up fast in the final eighth and, finishing gamely under a sharp hand-ride, gut up in the last stride. Prince Ching, probably best, trailed for the first half and swung wide in the final quarter and in a long stretch drive, barely failed to get up in the last stride. Bologna, under an inadequate ride, showed much speed and tired in the last hundred yards. Prince Magnet showed speed, but tired at the end. Lotta Gladstone went well for four and a half furlongs. Toupee, under a fierce drive finished fast and gamely, ftetropaw momentarily seemed dangerous after turning for home, but fell away suddenly when an eighth out. Search Me moved up quickly when an eighth out and appeared the winner in the last sixteenth, but tired suddenly in the closing strides. Linda Rosa came fast in the stretch, but tired in the final hundred yards and was short. Prince Frederick tired next to the inside rail in the final sixteenth.
