BRIGHTON HANDICAP HORSES. The last of the three great hsindicaps that closed last January, the Brooklyn, Suburban and Brighton, will be run at Brighton Beach next Saturday afternoon. Superman scored a gallant victory in the Brooklyn under Walter Millers guldsmce, with Besicou Light second and Nesilon third. Nealon uuit"poctodly triumphed in the Suburban, with Montgomery second and Beacon Light third. That much is turf history and halt forgotten by the thousands who are now perplexed as to the relative merits of the swift racers likely to measure strides in the big race near sit hand. Brighton Besieh is si faster track than Sheepshead Bay or Graveseud and, weather and track conditions fstvor-ing, a faster mile and a qusirter than has yet been reeled off this year will probably be recorded at the end of next Saturdays contest. Last yesir it took 2:032 to win the Brighton. The yesir before it was run in 2:01J over a muddy track, and in 1001 Broomstick scored in the fastest mile and a quarter ever run in this country when he defeated game Irish Lad in 2:02. From which it may be deduced that the horse to win the Brighton over si fast track must be up to running its mile and a quarter in better time than 2:03. This years Brooklyn was run in 2:00 and the Suburban in 2:0Uj, the Brooklyn being run over a slow track. Apparently not less than fifteen horses will contest the Brighton and more may start. Of those deemed sure "to start Dr. Gardner, Cottoutown, Gal-lavant, Montgomery and Tony Faust have Incurred penalties. Taking everything into consideration it ts now thought that the following fifteen are reasonably sure to lie sent to the post: Age. Wt. T. D. Sullivans b. e, Dr. Gardner 4 121 P. J. Schreibers b. c, Jsiek Atkiu :; 100 Then, by way of tsiking a chance, some or more of such speedy and lightly weighted three-year-olds sis Areite, OS; McCarter, 07; Kentucky Beau, 07; J. C. Core, 07; Conville, 00; Fenarris, 01, and Okcn-ite, 0::, are not to be overlooked as possible starters. Of the horses named In the second list. Flip Flap, Nesilon and Peter Pan hsive incurred the extreme penalties. Even with 113 pounds to carry Peter Psm would have a chance second to none, but the 5,000 Brighton Derby seems at his mercy, and in view of that and his many subsequent valuable en-gsigements it seems improbable that Mr. Keene would risk injuring him in such si big field as that likely to run in the Brighton. Flip Flap "is a fine filly and sis game sis game can be, but her twelve pounds penalty carries her weight up to 121 pounds sind seems to destroy the obvious chance her first impost or 112 pounds gave her. As for Nealon, his owner lias already in effect declared that he will rely on Faust, and, furthermore, that the bitter will win the big rsice. So it may be assumed that Nealon is at least a doubtful starter. Tangle may go and will be very dangerous if fit. So may Borghosi sind Wexford. As to the horses named sil-most certain to start it may be said that their recent running demonstrates that all are fit and rcsidy and that two western horses, Beacon Light and Martin Doyle, have great chances.
