WALDORF STAKES ELIGIBLES. The success and continued popularity of the Astoria Stakes at Gravesond, with its convivial after feature of a dinner given by the winning owner to other less fortunate subscribers, led the Coney Island Jockey Club to establish the Waldorf Slakes on practically the same lines. It is an old-fashioned sweepstakes of 50 each, half forfeit, with ,000 added, in which the winner takes everything, except that the second horse saves its stake. Subscribers can name two horses by July 15, of which hut one is to start. It is for two-year-olds and leased horses, or those whose running qualities have been purchased, are not eligible. P. J. Dwyer, P. II. MeCarren, F. B. Hitchcock, Oneck Stable, W. S. Fanshawe, Woodford Clay. ,T. C. McDowell, B. T. Wilson, Jr., Paul J. Bainey, Newcastle Stable and W. II. Duryea wore tlie subscribers. Of these W. S. Fanshawe made his nomination in the name of the Silver Brook Farm.
