ENTRIES FOR EPSOM DERBY OF 1909. Clarence Mackay Among the Nominators Croker Names Half-sister to Orby. London, August 7. The Epsom Derby of 1000 has closed with :!1S entries, while the Oaks has received 2S1 nominations. Tor the Derby, this is seventeen more than were received for the race of 100S, and the Oaks shows an increase of twenty-six over the iiominaMons for the race of next year. The king names only one for the Derby, the colt by Diamond Jubilee Ambleside, while, lie has nominated seven lillics for the Oaks. For the Derby and Oaks Richard Croker names the half-sister to Orby and llhodora. a filly called Alabama, by Americus Hhodn IS. Though tills filly was foaled in Ireland, liolh her sire and dam are American horses. Clarence II. .Mackay and W. Astnr are the only other Americans among the nominators. Mr. Mackay lias named for the Derby the colt by Meddler Won by WaiMng, and for the Oaks the lilly by Meddler --Correction. These youngsters are also the only; nominations that were bred in America. They were both foaled at Kingston Stud in Kentucky. Won liy Waiting is an English mare that was sent to America In 1902. She is the dam of Recovery, Moray and Flying Form, which have raced well here. Tie lilly outot Correction is a half-sister to Yan- Mr. Astor h.is named his colt Mirailor by Marco Semitone for the Derby and his filly Third Trick, bv William the Third -Conjure for the Oaks. They were both foaled In this country. The good American horse Kings Courier is represented in the Derby by Lord Ellesmeres eolt out of Sabrineta.
