KEMYETTO A GAME PILLY. WINS HURON HANDICAP WITH THREE COLTS DRIVING HER FURIOUSLY. First Dead Heat of the Season in New York Paprika Takes Three Jumping Races in Four Days. Saratoga. X. Y., Augnst 1.". The seventh running of the Huron Handicap for three-year-olds exclusively iit one mile ami three-sixteenths, was the feature of Hie eanl today ami it furnished a spectacular finish. John Sanfords grand Tilly Kenny-ctto. which made her debut as a three-year-old on Thursday last when she scored an easy triumph in the historic Alabama Slakes, was the favorite, though not as heavily supported and at much better odds than wen? probably generally expected. This was due to the plunge that developed on John E. Slnddcus Dasliawny. The word bad been industriously passed in wise circles that Maddens horse had worked in a manner which warranted wagers to the limit and when his odds touched sixes the betting began. He went to the post at 2J to 1. Stiller took Kennyctto to the front passing the stand and kept her there for the remainder of the journey, though he bad to put forth bis best efforts to hold the lead by a length at the llnish, for Teniaceo, Dashaway and Tourenne, noses apart, were pushing her hard at the end. The time was 2:00, which equals the record for the race. Content having run it in that time when she won for the Newcastle Stable last year. Incidentally three of this years Derby winners have finished behind Kennyctto in lier two starts. In the Alabama Stakes she showed her heels to Yankee filri. winner of the City Iark Derby, aud,.J.oday VTeuiacon, winner of the Califoct nin Derby, and Tourenne, winner of the Hamilton Derby, were, as has been related, among her defeated opponents. Paprika is certainly sweet pepper for J.. W. Colt. He scored his third success in four days when he easily defeated his four opponents in the steeplechase this afternoon. While there was considerable support for Judge White. Paprika was the favorite nt all times. Slclnerney restrained him mildly until they were over the last jump, when he sent him on to finish three lengths in front of Judge White, witli Lights Out third. A lot of folks down this way think Sleeliek is a better colt than Uncle, and it has been whispered around that this Is John E. Sladdens private opinion, though lie has not given It public expression. His good race next behind Colin In the Oreat Trial Stakes strengthened this notion in the public mind, consequently they, disregarded his burden of 120 pounds and sent him to the post an odds-on favorite for the opening race. The really wise, however, .ettled on the lightly-weighted P.elmont pair, Antaeus and Mack Oak, and they got the money In bundles, backing the entry from fives to 2 to 1. King Cobalt made the running to the stretch, where the speedy Antaeus was sent to the front by Sillier, Sleeliek following in a game effort. The concession of twenty-six pounds, however, proved too much and Anlaeus won by a half length with some to spare. Long P.all, the favorite for the third race, was all but left at this, iost and had no chance in the big Held. The winner turned up in the -10 to 1 shot Kerry which was rushed to the front at the barriers rise, held the lead all the way and lasted just long enough to beat Thomas Calhoun out three parts of a length, with Sussex, at odds of ."0 to 1, third. The start was not a good one and the race was not truly run. The first dead heat of this season in New York state came with the running of the fourth race at one mile, in which Hyperion 11., tin; favorite and Tony Bonero, quoted at 12 to 1, got to the finish in the fast time of lloOjj and so closely together that the judges were unable to say that one had defeated the other. Trainers SIcDaniel and ilyland were not of a mind to run it off and the purse was divided. Tony lionero set a fast pace and led all the way until within a dozen yards of the wire, Hyperion II. coming with a rush, reached his shoulder and in the last stride was on even terms with him. Miller simply delayed his move too long. The closing race for maiden three-year-olds at three-quarters of a mile marked a double for John Sanford, llockstone, the odds-on favorite, winning by a half length, but with considerable to spare from Sal Volatile. This daughter of Disguise Heartburn was making her debut and the promising performance she displayed was anticipated by those who are careful observers of exercise gallops. She was backed from 20 to 1 to 5 to 1 and had the race been at five-eighths of a mile she might have won. At any rate she is wortli remembering. On the whole the public had a good day, four outstanding favorites and a well-backed second choice winning. It is generally understood that James H. Kecne Is to have first call on the services of jockey Notter next year. Jockey Sillier has purchased the Arcade bathhouse at Brighton Beach for ,500. The jockey has invested a lot of money down near the sad surf this summer. A fancy bet was made today on the coming Futurity. "Sllke" Tuohey lias some inside information on It. T. Wilson, Jr.s, colt Beaneoup. He thinks this colt can beat Colin under the big difference of weights. The Wilson colt has been working well. 1
