CRAFTY KNOCKS DOWN BONNIE KATE. Finishes First and Is Disqualified Not a Winning Favorite at Fort Erie. Buffalo, N. Y., August 15. This was a field day for the bookmakers at Fort Erie. Not one of the six favorites won, and only one, Chief Desmond, in the third race, succeeded in finishing in the money. Bonnie Kate was the favorite in the last race and she might have saved the day for the talent had not Crafty swerved into her and knocked her down at the last sixteenth post. Crafty finished first, but was promptly disqualified, the purse going to Lord Dixon. The bookmakers no longer occupy the betting ring under the grandstand. They were there until yesterday when the "keep moving" order came from quarters where a strict observance of the Canadian law is desired and the layers are now occupying the lawn. For his weak ride on Beatrice IC. in the fourth race yesterday, jockey Boland has been suspended for ten days. J. Branuon is here from Windsor with three horses.
