Mr. McCann palpably outclassed the others, practically made the pace throughout, won as his rider pleased and is in grand form. Dr. Keith, always well up, finished like a shot. Essex II. was a prominent and game contender throughout. Maximilian, after forward pursuit of the pacemaker, loomed up menacingly, but tired finally and Is extra good. Keator, hard held, indulged Dennis Stafford with the lead to the far turn, where he forged into a long lead still hard held and won eased up. Dennis Stafford set the pace for live furlongs and quickly gave way to the favorite, but held on well Into an easy second. Arlmo was well np for a half, but dropped out when the real racing commenced. Daley dashed into the lead at the start and, setting a tremendous pace and shaking off the other two when straightened for home, drew out and won off like a crackerjack. Fond Heart, always in close pursuit, finally outstayed the favorite for second place and is a superior class lilly. Spooner tired badly after an earlv strenuous effort to keep pace with the winner and may have been short. Faust maintained near pursuit of the leader for six furlongs, then tired, but finished an easy second. Smiling Tom ran prominently for seven furlongs, then tired and probably disliked the stiff going. Littleton Maid was outpaced from the start and could not stride freely In the going. Dolly Spanker loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but tired finally and is rounding to. San Alviso made the running for a half oil sufferance, but Is also improving.
