THREE STURDY TURF VETERANS. Alma Dufour, Bragg and Bon Mot Have Raced Gallantly. Alma Dufour was for four years, beginning with 1003, about the best racer in Edward Corrigans possession, and when at her best was a mare of great speed as well as a sturdy weight carrier, and hardy campaigner. She was beyond question the best representative of the Musket stallion. Artillery, and it was her excellence that rendered that sire a favorite -with Mr. Corrigan. He is of that age when the average racehorse is as track-wise as bis maser, and it Is not always that he will bring Into play the full measure of the speed that vet remains in bis powerful muscles and tendons, init he is si ill capable of running a very good race when in the mood. When a four-vcar-old Bragg was an excellent racehorse, and at Washington Park within the space of seven days Avon at an mile in 1:3S, a mile and a sixteenth in 1:435, and again at a mile in 1:395. the races leing won without any intervening defeat, and from such good racers as Toah, Schwalbe. Epicure, Ilenrr Burt, Federal, .Tack Ratlin, Monsieur Bcaucaire and others of the then best western handicap horses. The record of bis racing lo date isy Brags, b. h, 8, by Siddartha Cantatrice Year. But he has been a good race horse in his dav and lias more than paid bis way. From California to New York alid from Canada to New Orleans he has journeyed back and forth and raced over the majority of the leading tracks of both countries and in behalf of a variety of owners. When lit and on good terms with himself he could always race at the rate of about 1 :40 to the mile, and on special occasions could do still better. Any horse that can do that; well is sure to set his share of the money. He is a Rauclio del Paso bred horse, and besides the ability to run fast has always been possessedof a temper that rendered him anything but a delight to the various starters under whose jurisdiction he came.
