NOTES OF THE TURF. Twenty-four favorites in the last thirty races at Gravesend were defeated. The Cincinnati Enquirer calls Judge Hoppers decision in the Stevens-Cella case "a Scotch Verdict" not proven. Ding Dong II., bay horse, 5, by Brutus Na- bette, was recently shot at Seattle to end his suffering after an injury. Dr. R. G. Rook, while attending the races at Lexington, bought Hugh Farrell and Luniptrinuner. These horses will be raced at Norfolk and Richmond. Handicapper Vosburgh assigned Celt 120 pounds in last Saturdays Prospect Handicap. The stable declined the engagement. Celt is in nothing at Brighton Beach, but has good engagements ahead at Belmont Park. Two carloads .of youngsters belonging to Sam Hildreth arrived at Oakland Thursday. in this shipment Ilildrcth expects to develop a Firestone or two. These yearlings will be prepared for the stakes of 100S. San Francisco Chronicle.
