NOTES OF THE TURF. L. C. Williams mare, Florence Fonso, G, by Fonso Spenola, fell in a race at Spokane September 27, broke her shoulder, and was shot. The stewards of the English Jockey Club have issued notice that at every meeting which is held uuder their rules a proper horse ambulance, for the conveyance of injured horses from the course, must Ir provided and kept in constant readiness for use. Caramel II., the only foreign-trained candidate for the Cesarewiteh, was bred in France, but is owned by a Roumanian sportsman. Prince George Morouzzi, and trained at Bucharest. lie was. a good winner at the meeting last month at Buda-Pesth, Hungary. The Yarmouth Eng. race meeting was this year a greater success than ever. It is conducted by the race committee of the town corporation, and is run solely in the interests of the town. The whole of the profits go to the charities, aud the chief institution to benefit is the hospital. Richard T. Wilson, Jr., is so seriously ill at Newport, R. I., that three physicians are in constant attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Wilson, Sr., have also been in poor health for several months. The other members of the family are there and will remain until there are encouraging reports of the condition of R. T. Wilson, Jr. The intemperate reformer is universal. In the Glasgow Scotland town council, September 1, a suggestion was made that in the newspapers supplied to the city libraries all news relating to horse racing and betting be blacked out. but as there was no evidence of evil having been done in this direction the council did not adopt the steps suggested.
