NOTES OF THE TURF. A. Simons reports the deatli of the three-year-old bay filly, Golden AVest, by Golden Garter Aurania. James G. Oxnard will race a small stable next year. The string will largely consist of two-yeir-olds, and AAIHiaiu Brooks lias been engaged as trainer. Jockey Johnny Lindsey is in a New Orleans hospital, suffering from Internal injuries received by falling from his mount in a race Thursday at the Louisiana track. The stallion Inflexible, which II. T. Oxnard leased to Ar. OB. Macdonough for stud duty at his Ormondale Farm, in California, will probably be brought back to Blue Ridge this winter. M. Lawrence, who owns an extensive breeding farm named Oakwood Stock Farm at Lincoln, Cal., will race nineteen horses at Santa Anita Park this winter. They have been prepared for racing on the mile track at the farm. Most of the horsemen who will race at Santa Anita Park during the coming meeting have opened winter residences for their families at Monrovia, which gives them all of the advantages of city life closer to the track than Los Angeles. Sidney Lucas, the American Derby winner of 1000, which was in E. C. Cowdins Kirklevington Stud in Kentucky until his owner, II. T. Oxnard, shipped him to New York last Septemlier, has arrived at Blue Ridge Stud and will be mated to a number of the best mares there next spring. 1
