Bank Holiday, prominent throughout, took the obstacles without blunder and, wearing down Bob Murnhv after going over the stretch hurdle, won going away. Boh Murphy ran a good race and fenced cleanlv Allies, on the outside, escaped interference and ran fairly well. Sam Iloltheimer ran poorly. Coal Black Lady blundered at the first fence and could not recover her lost ground. Lindale fell at the second jump but was remounted and finished. Magic was kept too close to the inner rail at the second jump and struck it causing him to fall. Peter Becker and Pete Vinegar fell at the third jump. Dainty Belle began slowly and had to be hard ridden through the last half, moved up steadily after fonnding into the stretch, but was not good enough today. Donna ran in closo pursuit of the winner for three-quarters, but tired in the stretch. Meredith came from a long way back in the last quarter. Just So will show improvement. Won driving; second and third the same. Clara Huron, lucky in escaping interference all the way, was in close pursuit of Alegra for the first three- quarters, moved up fast under urging in the stretch and got up in the final stride. Alegra had the best of the start and, showing superior speed, set the pace fast until in the last few strides, where she tired and almost lost second place. Lady Oakland, from a slow beginning, gained steadily, finished fast and was probably best today. Miltiades ran a good race, but tired in the last furlong as if short. Katie Powers, poorly ridden, closed a big gap from a slow beginning and finished gamelv. Lady Charade had a rough trip and will Improve. Goldspink finished with a belated rush. Jerry C. and Edith M. tired after going a half. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Denigre, showing sudden improvement and well meant, went into a contending position with a rush and, better ridden, would have won. Anna Day had a rough trip, but ran well and finished gamely. John McBride came from a long way back in the stretch and ran a good race. Water Dog ran sluggishly for three-quarters and came with a late rush in the stretch. Grenade can do much better.
