NEW YORK BETTING BILLS INTRODUCED. New Hk. January 7. — The Agnew bill was introduced at Albany last night and sent to the Codes Committee. It can hardly have a hearing before the i;i t _ the month. It moves to amend the penal code bf making bookmaking and the making of fenm on ■ race, or anything else anywhere, a misdemeanor, with the penalty of imprisonment for a year, or a 00 line, or lwth. Al-o I bill was introduced to appropriate 50,-000 for agriculture. This is intended to take the place of the racing tax that now goes to state and comity lairs. Another bill on the same lines as the Aguew bill against race-track betting was introduced at ___qr today. Senators Grady and MeCarren will lead the fight against these bills. Senator Raines is also strong against them, and the governors idea of legislation to appropriate money direct for benefit of the fairs is regarded as impossible of being put through any legislature.
